PewDiePie, of all people - check the 'Development' section), and Bulbware no longer had to live up to the promises that were attached to the Kickstarter plan. The game got made without the Kickstarter help (after some googling, apparently the game got mostly funded by. I don't know what happened and I won't pretend like I do, but it's clear that they had to find funding outside of Kickstarter. If you're familiar with Kickstarter, if a project fails or gets cancelled, the project creators don't get to keep any of the pledged money - it's all refunded to the backers or, in most cases, it's not even removed from their accounts unless the project goes through and gets funded -, which means Bulbware didn't get any of the pledged money. It didn't, they cancelled it out of fear of not reaching their goal (it honestly didn't seem like they were going to make it). :( Well, they *did* promise a Linux version *IF* the Kickstarter succeeded.

I wonder why didn't they keep their promise. Just set it back to "Fastest" and, voilá, everything is running as it should. If this happens to you, it means you probably switched the Graphics settings to anything other than "Fastest" in the launcher (it's a Unity made game, this launcher is unmistakable). And I'll probably "feel like it" a couple of times, considering this is a universe and a setting that I'm absolutely going to want to revisit time and time again.Ī word of advice, though, if you get the game and come across this issue: on some setups, the game will run horizontally inverted.

The game is pretty short, I've finished it in two and a half hours, taking my time with it, but, to be completely honest, nowadays I prefer it this way, as I no longer have the free time I did a decade back, when I hadn't started working yet. Some of the subject matter can go from funny to disturbing pretty quickly. The art style is gorgeous, very reminiscent of the old Nickelodeon cartoons (namely Ren & Stimpy), the story and themes are somewhat interesting, but it's all a better experience if you do enjoy horror games or movies. Bulb Boy definitely flew under my radar, and it's a shame, as I would have loved to play it when it released two years ago. Since I basically only buy games here on GOG, these days, for a couple of years, now, I'm mostly unaware of the majority of the games that are being released, unless I actively look for them and develop an interest. I bought this game and I must say I'm impressed, so far.
